Discipleship is HARD!

Life is hard but life without Christ it is harder. As this journey of discipleship has gotten harder I have often wondered why I said yes to the call in the first place. Daily studying, prayer and time in the word is down right hard at times. Life is constantly throwing obstacles in my way and I just plain feel like giving up. As I have reach the half way point of Rock Solid Woman’s Discipleship (RSW) I have begun to realize it is harder than I may have first thought but when I push through fatigue, busy schedules, sickness and the chaos of life God ALWAYS shows up BIG time!

So how do we continue on this journey if we are feeling weak and defeated?

We need, no MUST reach out and connect with our sisters in Christ. Not just to discuss bible “study” but to listen and share our lives. Complain, vent, cry, share your anger…. hug, smile, encourage and connect with one another right where you are at in life.

Being in a large group of woman can be difficult but when we make the effort to make it smaller we can go deeper and get real with one another. Doing bible study is NOT what makes us disciples! Living like disciples and connecting with other disciples makes us better wives, moms, friends, workers and woman.

My heart breaks as I watch woman come in and out the doors of church feeling defeated and not worthy of love. Jesus did not come for us to feel disconnected but instead to connect with God on a more intimate level. Yes, it means being brave and vulnerable at the same time but ladies what is the alternative? We could shrink back and pretend life is not happening or we could open up and share what God is teaching us even in our lack of studying.

Discipleship is HARD but it is much harder to live in the world not aware of God and experiencing Him each and every day amongst the heart ache, defeat, depression and sadness.

They committed themselves to the teaching of the apostles, the life together, the common meal, and the prayers. Acts 2:42 The Message

Giving up is NOT an option!

One day when large groups of people were walking along with him, Jesus turned and told them, “Anyone who comes to me but refuses to let go of father, mother, spouse, children, brothers, sisters—yes, even one’s own self!—can’t be my disciple. Anyone who won’t shoulder his own cross and follow behind me can’t be my disciple. Luke 14:25-27 The Message

We are all good enough right where we are at in life. We are all worthy of this amazing journey. We are worthy of connection and love no matter what we have done in our past. We are worthy because Christ died for us!

I pray the fire we all felt on the day we asked Christ into our hearts can be reignited and will burn far beyond today.

No woman left behind!!

  1. Wow , exactly, shouldn’t a class be spirit led, teaching a lesson out of a book is wonderful, but only if we slow down & take time to administer to one another on that lesson and take time to be deep so we can grow further as the body of Christ.
