A New Lens

Far too often I think we sell ourselves short when it comes to life. We get stuck in a rut and just think this is how life has to be…
We do not have to stay stuck or settle for less than in our lives. We all have the same opportunities to change the way we think and feel about our lives. Yes, life will be hard and there will be times we feel like we can NOT go on any longer however; we have a choice to get out of bed each and every day with a positive thankful attitude.
In the midst of uncertainty we have a choice to make. Are we going to allow the fear of the unknown cripple us, leaving us stuck in our lives or are we going to change the status quo of life and face the challenges head on with a positive attitude?
Let us face it we will NEVER be richer, prettier or skinnier than _____ (fill in the blank)!
Life is hard enough without piling on guilt, over-achievement and the theory that we can rest when we die.
Let us stop comparing ourselves and let us embrace our difference with love and acceptance.
Guilt will keep us stuck in our shame and failures of our past.
Overachieving will keep us from enjoying the beauty of today.
Never finding rest will lead us to fatigue, burnout and despair.
Today is the day we can change the way we think about our lives and circumstances. We have the power within ourselves to look at life through a new lens. We can choose to see the beauty in the storms. We can choose to look for the good in the mean people we know or deal with on a daily basis. We can look at unemployment as an opportunity to sit and rest for the next adventure coming our way. We can look at the passed up promotion as an opportunity to grow and learn more for the next advancement position.
I challenge you (and myself) to look at life through a different perspective… lets look at life’s challenges as opportunities for better tomorrows.
